Gol Gumbaz

Gol Gumbaz is the tomb of Muhammad Adil Shah, who was the Sultan of Bijapur. He was the 7th ruler of Adil Shahi dynasty between 1490 and 1696. The dome is 124 ft in diameter constructed in Persian style and stands unsupported by pillars. The edifice has a mosque, drum house, and a guest house. It is a just 15 mins drive from the hotel to reach Gol Gumbaz.

Ibrahim Rauza

Ibrahim Rauza was designed by Malik Sandal and is often referred to as ‘The Taj Mahal of the Deccan’. It has four towers, a mosque, a tomb at its left side and is the home to the remains of Ibrahim Adil Shah II and his wife Taj Sultana. It is one of the top five historical monuments in Bijapur and is also known as The Taj Mahal of the Deccan. The place is a just 10 mins drive from the hotel.

Malik-e-Maidan

After Gol Gumbaz and Ibrahim Rauza, Malik-e-Maidan is considered as the next top tourist attraction. Malik-e-Maidan was built by Ali Adil Shah I in 1549. It is one of the largest bell metal guns in the world, is situated around 7 km away from the Hotel. ‘Malik-e-Maidan’ means ‘The Monarch of the Plains’. The canon has a diameter of 1.5 meters, 4.45 meters in length and weighs 55 tons. It is said that in order to avoid going deaf, the gunner had to submerge his head in water before firing.

Almatti Dam

Almatti Dam is built across the Krishna River in Bijapur District. The aim of this reservoir was to provide irrigation to the drought-prone areas of Bijapur, Bagalkot, Gulbarga, Raichur, and Koppal districts. The dam is also known as Lal Bahadur Shastri dam and it has the capacity of 290 MW hydroelectricity generation per year. The seven terrace gardens, musical fountains, stagnant fountains, and boating facility have made this as a popular picnic spot.

Archaeological Museum

Naqquar Khana, the Trumpet House is an attractive structure built in the Adil Shahi architecture. The building has 6 galleries where each one exhibits a unique group of collections. You can visit the museum at any time between 10 am to 5 pm except on Fridays. The museum has an entry fee of Rs. 2 per person whose age is greater than 15.

Ibrahim Rouza

Ibrahim Rouza which is the tomb where Ibrahim Adil Shah II is buried along with his wife queen Taj Sultana. The tomb was constructed by the Persian architect Malik Sandal. The walls of the building are covered with the beautiful sentences of Quran. People say that this was an inspiration for Shajahan to construct the world famous Taj Mahal.
